Hope you are able to access this email by now or at least over the weekend to confirm your Orientation Week involvement from 11th Jan till 15th Jan 2016, inclusive.

If I am from Fintan(FN) or Lawrence(LE) Fraternity Classes:

11th Jan 2016, report to school canteen by 730am in PE attire and bag packed with camp items with EZLINK card and a freshly ironed set of School Uniform on a hangar, for the Stay-In Camp.

12th Jan 2016, still part of the camp and dismissed at 830pm with parents after the Parent Orientation Briefing. Parents of boys from Fintan and Lawrence Fraternity to be present for the briefing in the hall on the 12th of Jan 2016, 6pm. Dismissal at 830-9pm with parents

13th Jan 2016, report to School Hall in a small bag with wallet, diary and pen in PE Attire, to the School Hall by 730am for the Day 1 of the Orientation Parallel ProgrammeFN lunch at 12 noon, gather at the amphitheatre at 1pm for the Aesthetics Skills Test. 
LE to go home at 12 noon.

14th Jan 2016, report to School Hall in PE Attire and a wallet, a small bag with diary and pen, and optional sports equipment if needed for Sports Skills Test(Compulsory for all)LE lunch at 1230pm, gather at amphitheatre at 130pm for Aesthetics Skills Test (Compulsory for all)FN to go home at 1230pm or optionally attend Sports Trials at 3pm onwards with LE( after Aesthetics Skills test)

15th Jan 2016, All Sec 1 students from FN, LE, ML, MN( Compulsory for all Sec1 students) to report at 130pm in the School Hall, in PE attire, diary and pen, small bag to the School Hall seated in class order for CCA Orientation. Early Dinner at 5-6pm in the school canteen, to bring own money. Stay for campfire, assemble outside own class to be ushered as a class for campfire at the amphitheatre at 615pm. Dismissal at 730-8pm.

If diary and pen not needed, and to secure own valuables like wallet during activities, please lock up in the locker. Personal responsibility is key.

3rd language students issued SJI Official excuse letter for Orientation Week clash.
Order of the day for Thursday, 7th Jan 2016, Temperature Taking Exercise.
Payment of fees, first 2 months to be paid by cheque on 21st or 22nd Jan 2016 at the counter in the general office.


5th Jan 2016, Tuesday

Every Tuesday is level Assembly day held at the area above the Staff Room for Sec1s. pre-assembly/arrival to school procedure applies:

1. Reach School
2. Turn off devices and phones
3. Lock up in own locker
4. Put bag neatly outside classroom
5. Take out book and Diary and Pen
6. Quickly move down to the amphitheatre, assembly yard, canteen for silent reading
7. By 730am all seated at respective spots for assembly.

Free Periods Policy: Under review. At the moment some level of flexibility and trust that the boys will not abuse the free periods by over-extending time given by coming back late from the canteen for a quick bite. Staff will monitor and make adjustments where needed.

4th Jan 2016, Monday

Welcome Address, HOL Introduction

Basic Expectations, New beginnings, throw away old bad habits, bring in new ones and improve.

What we want to see in them in 2 years time
What gifts and talents they wish to share with the class, level and school

Issued diary, purpose and expectations with and within the diary

Lesson precursors and expectations:
STAR( S= Silence, T= Tidiness, A= Attire, R= Respect/Greeting) 

Manners and greeting any adult and staff member in school.

Mobile phone policy. Not to be seen and not to be used during curriculum hours, CCA time and School/Class events. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary measures and conduct grading effects( to be briefed during Parent Orientation). Confiscation and parents acknowledgement of infringement is baseline. Purpose is to have a conducive environment free of distractions that allows students to interact and build bonds by talking and playing with each other, not looking at screens.

Late coming policy. It's effects on Conduct Grading found report book for each term.

Attire and hair, to refer to the diary and the pictures for the acceptable haircut.

Shoes and socks. Shoe- laced white, no marking shoes and non-ankle socks

School tie, worn on the first day of the week even if it falls on other days than Monday.

Keys to classroom, system to be briefed later

Assembly and start of school: Report to school, go to area outside classroom, lock up phone that is switched off( not silent mode), put bag neatly outside classroom, bring a book to read and diary and pen to the assembly area for silent reading. No playing with phones etc.

Recess time and rules: No one in classroom, all to leave, be at canteen, 3 min before end of recess assemble outside classroom to wait for next teacher to arrive before entering class with permission. No food and drink to be consumed anywhere outside the canteen nor should any food and drinks be brought to the classroom at any time. With teacher supervision and permission like class functions are exceptions with cleanliness caveats.

Locker management: Own lock and key, own responsibility for safe keeping. Loss of key will incur an administrative fee of $5 to break the lock by the facilities department.

Diary and pen: Important piece of document to be with student in school bag and not in the locker or left under the table after school hours. To be brought home for parents to refer and boys to refer to it.

Assembly seating arrangement: practiced twice on 4th of Jan 2016

No MT( NTIL student except those taking Hindi)  boys during curriculum time to be only at the school library for reading and revision. No idevices to be taken out or used. If lesson is at of the day, boys are expected to remain in the library till the indicated end of day as per the timetable, as per school policy for accountability and safety.
